Collection: Ballpoint Pens

In 1888 John J Loud attempted to create a pen that would an alternative to the traditional Fountain Pen, one that would do what the Fountain Pen couldn't do: write on rough surfaces, course paper, and even on wood. It would be another century before the Loud's patented device became popular when a Hungarian newspaper editor decided to pair the mechanism with ink that dried quickly.

Today the ballpoint pen is one of the most popular pens on the market - and ideal choice for someone who writes on a variety of surfaces, has a strong grip, and exerts pressure on the page.
